BLUE SUITCASE

"PETER'S TRACKS" - A NEW SERVICE In the 70,s 80's and 90's I played on hundreds of recordings of all kinds of music, jazz, folk, rock, blues, swing, singer-songwriter and contradance. I was often requested to write or "head chart" parts for several horn players, and to play improvised solos and accompaniments. You probably have run across my name in the fine print on the back of CDs and LPs. Past "clients" include Bonny Raitt, Bob Dylan, David Bromberg, Leon Redbone, and many others.
With the profusion of home equipment for digital recording, there's no need to go to a studio to record overdubs. Here's the procedure--You send me a rough mix (mp3 is fine) including all the tracks you are expecting to use. Also include any comments about what the new track should be and what it should do. I will send you AIFF or WAVE encoded files of the new track(s) that will sync with yours.
I write music on Finale and record using Digital Performer. You studio can use any of the DAW's--DP, Pro Tools, Logic, Garage Band, etc. Prices start around $50 for a single track of accompaniment and/or solo by trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, or uke. Email Peckcornet@ aol.com - 212-463-0830

"...high-class, intelligent musicianship, always swinging as expected but with a felicitous penchant for framing the familiar in unexpected ways..."
— Marianne Mangan, Michael Steinman's Jazz Lives.
-----------
Brassman Ecklund works mostly within the early jazz canon, while playing, composing and arranging with a thoroughly eclectic aesthetic. So it is not surprising that factors ranging from classical training, a bent for rock/folk/blues, swing experience spanning big band to country & western, and a rogue pop sensibility combine to produce the particular jazz hybrid that is Peter Ecklund's music.
One would expect a multi-influenced idiom of a trumpeter/cornetist/flugelhornist who played with Gregg Allman, Maria Muldaur, Leon Redbone and Paul Butterfield. Still plays with David Bromberg's band. Was lead trumpet with Vince Giordano's Nighthawks in the 1980s and '90's, and a founding member of the Orphan Newsboys (led by Marty Grosz). Sideman for hundreds of albums and film scores. Leader of solo albums. Author of transcribed Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke solos and play/along books/CDs for Music Minus One. His current Blue Suitcase trio mixes jazz standards played in a thoroughly original context with discretely branded originals, as intriguing as the American standards they vaguely invoke.
And that is traditional jazz in the best tradition of jazz: idiosyncratic music made personal to the time, the place, the musicians. Peter Ecklund Music.
